Waterval Boven, Mpumalanga
Tranquilitas Adventure Farm is everything it implies – a weekend of adventure activities for all levels of participants, in a peaceful location, with accommodation options for all budgets.
It is located 7km outside the small railway town of Waterval Boven, Mpumalanga, on the Slaaihoek road (dirt), where some locals still believe the Kruger Rands are hidden. The town is internationally known as one of South Africa’s best rock climbing venues, but in recent years, it has also become a hotspot among mountain bikers. There are currently 8 single-track options between 3 and 40km for all levels of cycling that can be combined for longer rides.
The farm sits on the rim of the hard sandstone rock and overlooks the Elands valley of indigenous forest, where you can walk below the cliffs on manicured paths.
The campsite has big trees and braai facilities with hot showers and wash up area. On the edge of the campsite are six perma tents with either a double or two single beds, bedding and electricity. They share ablutions with the campsite. The lower slope of the campsite has four chalets with a double bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and lounge with two single beds.
Further up the hill on a more private location is a big beautiful farmhouse that sleeps up to 12 people, with all the luxuries of a permanent residence.
There is a small shop with snacks and great cappuccinos where you can also rent bikes. The large swimming pool in the middle of the campground is fenced in with an artificial climbing wall to play on. Pets are welcome – T’s and C’s apply.
